Attention Parents! Read Carefully. First Day of School Changes

Greetings Kennedy Community,

I would like to inform you of a "new" change to drop-offs in the mornings. 

At 7:30 A.M., the Main Gate will be open to allow students through that want breakfast. Students who do not want breakfast will wait outside the gate. 

At 7:50 a.m.
Kindergarten through Grade 2 parents may walk their child onto campus via the Main Gate and go directly to the blacktop line-up area. At 8:00 a.m., teachers will lead their class directly to the classroom. Once all the children have entered the classroom, doors will be closed at approximately 8:05 a.m. Parents are not permitted to enter the classroom to assist their child and are expected to leave the campus immediately. 

Parents will be permitted to walk their child onto campus and to the blacktop ONLY on July 30th and July 31st (the first two days of school).  After these dates, parents will NOT be able to escort their child through the gate and on campus.  We expect students in grades K-2 to walk independently through the gate and directly to the blacktops. 

At 7:50 a.m., parents of students in Grades 3–8 will drop off their children at the Main Gate. Parents will not be allowed through. Students in these grades are expected to enter the campus independently and go directly to the blacktops to line up. 

We understand change is hard, but we are trying to develop independent students early on, and we are asking for parent support and understanding. Please have a conversation with your child about what to expect and encourage them to be strong and positive.
